Yutaka – Japanese Diorama

The Client:

Tazaki Foods, the name behind the Yutaka brand, was the pioneer of Japanese food in the UK when the company opened the first Japanese restaurant in the country over 35 years ago. Since then they have been the leading supplier to the Japanese restaurants, hospitality industries and food manufacturers in the UK.

The Project:

Yutaka wanted to create a Youtube branding campaign that was both eye-catching and memorable for the general public. The 70 secs video had to capture the beauty of Japan and evoke a sense of nostalgia for its viewers.

The Solution:

We decided to create something totally unique for Yutaka, which would demonstrate to the viewer a level of detail and effort that is normally reserved for large budget feature films. The ad was shot in London using miniature models painstakingly created by our team of model makers. It took them 5 weeks to build 5 different sets for the project. The film shoot took 5 days to complete and the entire video was shot on 16mm film. We wanted to use traditional film cameras to give the video a sense of nostalgia.
